Family Dental Care

Your family dentist should be able to address the varying needs of everyone in the family, no matter the age or condition of teeth. When it comes to family dentistry, our friendly expert team at Dallas Dental Group is ready to meet all your needs by providing quality family dental care.

What is Family Dentistry?

Family dentistry is simple. It just means dentistry for the whole family. The reason we specify that we are family dentists is that many dentists are not, preferring to treat only particular age ranges. A family dentist treats people of all ages. One of the greatest aspects of providing family dentistry is the opportunity it affords to meet and care for multiple generations in a single family. We love being able to tell an anxious little one that we also take care of Mommy and Grandpa!

What does Family Dentistry Include?

Family dentistry includes all aspects of general dental care, including pediatrics. The treatments provided under the realm of family dentistry cover those of general dentistry, like preventive dental care, procedures to restore decayed or broken teeth, and gum treatments to name a few. It also includes minor oral surgeries and treatment options to replace missing teeth.

A family dentist is one whom you should be able to see for the majority of your oral health needs throughout your life. Of course, there may be rare instances or complex situations that arise requiring us to work with a dental specialist to give you the best care possible. Our doctors have wonderful relationships with dental specialists, referring patients as needed to oral surgeons, periodontists, endodontists, orthodontists, and pediatric dentists in the area.

How is a Family Dentist Different than a General Dentist?

Rather than restricting our treatment options to those of our healthy adult patients, with family dentistry, we commit to being experts in a wider range of treatments that allows us to care for children, special needs patients, and seniors. Each of these categories presents its own challenges in oral health and in dental treatment. As family dentists, we prioritize a welcoming, comfortable atmosphere for all people. We also commit to excellence in these areas that fall outside the range of “normal” dentistry.

Our commitment to meeting the needs of every member of your family, regardless of age, fuels our desire to continually learn about new materials and methods. Some traditional dental techniques do not work as well for patients with special needs or those in the youngest and oldest age brackets. This is why we strive to know every option available, including which ones might be a better treatment for a patient who has a higher cavity risk because of a limited ability to clean his or her own teeth.

Benefits of Family Dentistry

There are many benefits to having your entire family treated by one dental office. We are able to coordinate scheduled appointments, keep a close eye on dental insurance benefits, and provide a clear understanding of family history. We will tell you when all of the children should be using the same oral care products, and when one specific family member needs to use something different.

We love forming lifelong relationships with our patients, and by performing excellent family dentistry, we have the opportunity to care for you throughout every stage of life.
